Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) Under the provision of the Leaning and Skills Act 2000, ALI was set up and began work on 1 April 2001. ALI was formed to help create a new system of post-16 learning in England, which is coherent, accessible and responsive to the needs of individuals, businesses and communities. Responsible for inspecting all public funded work-based training for people over 16 and learning for post 19's, the Adult Learning Inspectorate reports both to the Secretary of State for Education and the public on the quality of education and training received by adult learners and young people in England.

Following Touchstone's ALI inspection in September 2006, highly commendable awards of grade 2s were achieved.   In April 2007 ALI joined forces with Ofsted and they now operate under the Ofsted name.  The new Ofsted, a new single inspectorate for children and learners, has been created with a mission to raise standards and improve lives, bringing together the wide experience of four inspectorates, including the Adult Learning Inspectorate, work from the Commission for Social Care Inspection and Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Court Administration, and the current work of Ofsted.

It is increasingly being used as a measure of an organisation's reliability, consistency and commitment to the supply of quality services. Touchstone achieved ISO 9001 in July 1997 and has maintained the standard ever since. For our customers, this means that we constantly ensure their needs are met through continuous evaluation and review throughout the training process.
